Cage Warriors 83 betting Preview and tips

Cage Warriors 83 has loads of local talent and established stars in what should be an entertaining night of fights in Newport, Wales on the 6th of May. Betsafe is the official betting partner of the Irish-owned promotion that has produced such well-known names as Michael Bisping, Dan Hardy, and Conor McGregor.

The future of Welsh MMA can be seen as undefeated locals Jack Shore and Josh ‘Crazy Horse’ Reed step into the cage. Former Cage Warriors welterweight title challenger and Betsafe Ambassador Mohsen Bahari, plus Danish lightweight star Søren Bak will give the Nordic MMA fans something to cheer for.

The card headlined by two solid UK welterweights in UFC vet Che Mills and Wales’ own Lewis Long.

Let’s take a closer look at the card.

Cage Warriors 83 Pro Prelims

Frenchman Nicholas Ott (0-1) will be looking for his first pr win as he faces and Simon Maksimovic (1-0) to kick-off the pro MMA card in Newport.

Englishman Brett Hassett (2-2) will look to get his career back on track after losing his last two bouts to start off the pro bouts. The “Werewolf” will take on local fighter Mason Jones (0-0) who will be making his pro debut.

Bantamweight Kris Edwards (8-9) has lost his last six bouts, all within the Cage Warriors cage. The frequently inactive Welshman will look for something to give the locals to cheer for when he battles Damo Weeden (6-6-0-1) and tries to stop the losing streak.

Phil Wells (8-4) is no stranger to the Newport Centre as he lost in the main event the last time Cage Warriors was in town. The Swindon Vale Tudo MMA fighter will however be looking for a win this time as the welterweight faces Welshman Shane Riley (5-6).

Englishman Aiden Lee (3-1) will have no time to rest, as he comes off a CWFC 80 win in February, where he dispatched Fabien Gallinaro in 66 seconds. Poland’s Kacper Formela (4-0) will make his promotional debut and look to make a name for himself with a win on European MMA’s biggest stage.

Joe McColgan (2-1) fought a solid prospect Arnold Quero to a split-decision loss at Cage Warriors 81, and the “SBG Hunger” will have another stiff challenge in undefeated Richard Williams (4-0) out of nearby Nails Fight Centre.

Cage Warriors 83 Main Card

Konmon Deh (9-3) vs Jack Shore (4-0)

Remember the name Jack Shore. Born and raised in Wales, Shore is an amateur MMA champion and now undefeated with four wins behind him. A total of 16 wins and 0 losses in his combined MMA career. He was already featured in the co-main event at the last Cage Warriors in Wales in March, where he stopped a previously undefeated Alexandros Gerolimatos. Deh is a teammate of current Cage Warriors welterweight champion Karl Amoussou. The Frenchman is on a six fight winning streak and will look to follow-up on his impressive TKO win at Cage Warriors 82 in April.

Mohsen Bahari (9-3) vs Giovanni Melillo (6-1)

Former welterweight title challenger and Betsafe Ambassador Mohsen Bahari. The Norwegian out of Frontline Academy takes on rising Italian prospect Giovanni Melillo, who arrives in Cage Warriors with a 6-1 career record, with five finishes. Melillo’s only defeat came to the current Cage Warriors champion Karl Amoussou. A good matchup to help push one fighter toward a title shot.

Gavin Kelly (7-3) vs Josh Reed (6-0)

The popular Welsh prospect Josh ‘Crazy Horse’ Reed will battle Irishman Gavin Kelly who makes his fourth Cage Warriors appearance. Reed is out of The Tillery Combat and has back-to-back victories in Cage Warriors that has helped him amass an undefeated pro record of six wins and no losses since turning pro in 2013. “Heamy” has a two fight winning streak and will look for an upset in this one against Reed.

Soren Bak (7-1) vs Scott Clist (11-3)

Danish lightweight star Søren Bak will make his promotional debut. The “True Viking” started off his career with seven wins, and will look to rebound from his latest loss as he heads to Newport. The Danish wrestler will face the super durable Scott ‘The Priest’ Clist in what should be an all out war. Don’t miss this one, which should be another title eliminator.

Che Mills (16-9) v Lewis Long (14-4)

UFC veteran Che Mills (16-9) had a four fights in the UFC and looked to re-establish himself with the Cage Warriors promotion. However, “Beautiful” has not had any recent luck, as he has only won one of four bouts with the leading European organization. Wales’ own Long is looking forward to his headlining opportunity against the well-known opponent. “Foot” Long has won his last seven of his past eight fights, including recent back-to-back rear-naked choke victories over Kester Mamba and Ryan Scope. The Cage Warriors veteran also has solid wins over Steven Dinsdale and Matt Inman. A solid matchup for the headliner in Newport.
