York Ebor Day 2 Tips & Preview
Free horse racing tips, best bets, and analysis for the York Ebor Meeting as we reach day 2 of this great festival.
Lowther Stakes
The betting is dominated by the William Haggas trained Sacred who was a very good 2nd in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. She has had only the 2 starts to date so should improve markedly from that and will take all the beating and continue a good record in the race for favourite backers.
There was a lot to like about how Norban won his sole start to date where he ran a comfortable winner despite being very green. He would have learnt a lot from that first racecourse experience and can get involved.
Selection: Norban E/W
Clipper Logistics Handicap
Prompting has won his last 3 and can go in again here. Danny Tudhope rides which is interesting for the fact he is the retained rider for the race sponsors Clipper Logistics who have Deep Intrigue so it shouts out that Danny Tudhope thinks an awful lot of Prompting.
Top Rank is the only unbeaten runner in the race but having only ran the four times compared to the likes of Firmament who runs every other week its likely he doesn’t have the experience for this hot handicap.
Sir Busker is another for the shortlist after being potentially the eye catcher of the week at Glorious Goodwood when denied any sort of run. Prior to that he was 2nd in the Bunbury Cup which is form good enough for this.
Selection: Prompting
Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1)
Of the classic generation, Love looks head and shoulders above her rivals and will be far too good for this decent field. Taking on the elders for the first time, only one 4-year-old is in opposition along with 4 three-year-olds.
One Voice should make it an Irish 1-2 having run a mighty race in the Nassau Stakes whilst Franconia brings the course form and represents the best change of an English victory.
Selection: 1st Love 2nd One Voice Straight Forecast

British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Listed Race)
On paper this is probably the most competitive race of the day and it’s difficult to rule any of them out.
Sea Of Faith as been off for over a year but showed sparks of top class ability last season and if fully wound up can put it all on display here.
The other that ticks a lot of boxes is the Queen’s runner Award Scheme. She hacked up here 2 runs back and was a respectable 2nd when moving up to Listed class at Salisbury latest. She looked like she was crying out for a step up in trip that day and the extra 2f today can see further improvement from her.
Selection: Award Scheme
