Ebor festival day 2 tips and preview
It’s time to don your glad rags for ladies day at this year’s Ebor festival. Day two is as glamourous as it gets in horse racing with fancy attire expected and dramatic outfits. Drama of course will not only be on the trackside but on the turf too. Day two of this magnificent event throws up some top class racing including the much anticipated Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks. The Yorkshire Oaks forms part of the British racing series and is one of the most highly rated race for fillies and mares all season. Often we’ll see a winner that’s already landed the Epsom Oaks earlier in the season, but with such a competitive field there are certainly no guarantees.
As well as the Oaks, there is another Group race in the form of the Lowther Stakes. This Group 2 race, again for the fillies is a speed race at only 6f and again there is a strong field of potential winners running. On top of the group races, high class handicaps will also be taking place so you can be sure of a fast and frantic day at the tracks.

The Yorkshire Oaks is one of the most highly anticipated events on the York racing calendar due to its exciting contest between the fastest fillies and colts. Open to horses 3 years and older the weight penalties for the older horses of up to 10lb have been the difference in several races, so it’s one where age is important. This year’s field is smaller than most years with only 3 and 4 year olds competing. Enable will be taking centre stage and with odds of around 1/3 on, the pressure is on. This could be one of the greats and if she manages to land this, chances of her going off odds in this year’s arc will be insanely high; not very often you see that! Will she do it?
