Donald McCain Weekend Preview

We have had a good week with two winners at Carlisle on Thursday with Mackenberg being particularly impressive and he looks like a nice horse going forward. Four runners at Sedgefield on Sunday where all of them have bits of chances but Shantaluze should go well if settling. You can read all my thoughts on the runners below:

Sunday

Track: Sedgefield – 3:25

Jockey: Brian Hughes

His first run was very good but obviously, the second day was disappointing where I dropped him back to 2 miles and rode him positively which didn’t really suit him. We are going to drop him in and we’re putting a hood on to help him settle a bit. If it works and he gives his Cartmel running, he’d have an each-way chance.

Track: Sedgefield – 5:10

Jockey: Abbie McCain

He’s had a good break but I don’t think he’s that well handicapped at present. That being said he’s got the ability and is ready to get started.

Track: Sedgefield – 5:10

Jockey: Theo Gillard

A couple of times he’s flattered to get further so before the ground goes it’s time to try him. The track will suit and if he stays then he’d go pretty close.

Track: Sedgefield – 5:40

Jockey: Brian Hughes

He’s a horse that we like at home but obviously, he disappointed on debut for us where the ground was too soft for him. He’s a big fine horse that might find this track a bit sharp but he’s ready to start and I’d be hopeful of a nice run.

Best Chance: SHANTALUZE
