Donald McCain Bangor Runners
Another busy day for the team at Bankhouse with 8 runners at Bangor. Our smart bumper horse Chuvelo gets his first run over hurdles which is very exciting while some real yard favourites may get their heads in front again.
You can read all my thoughts on each runner below:
Track: Bangor – 1:40
Jockey: Brian Hughes
She was green the first day as well as being free and jumped a bit to the right and had a few little things wrong. The winner went a good gallop and went away from them all and she just lost second late on as she went to chase the winner a good bit out. The winner might be ok and she’ll like the drier ground. She thinks she’s quicker than she is but should run well.
Track: Bangor – 2:10
Jockey: Brian Hughes
We thought he should have won at Southwell and he didn’t, so we went a couple of days later which is something I don’t normally do. But he jumped only ok that day and jumped even worse the last day and came back with sore shins. If the blinkers sharpen him up he’d have a chance.

Track: Bangor – 2:45
Jockey: Brian Hughes
I ran him the first-day last year at Sedgefield on ground that he hated and then he came back to win a nice race. He’s a nice big horse that’ll improve for the run but is ready to go and do himself justice.

Track: Bangor – 3:20
Jockey: Brian Hughes
He’s obviously a horse that we like and he’s schooled fine at home. He’s ready to start but might improve for the experience. We think a bit of him and he was being aimed at the Aintree bumper before that didn’t happen so he’s a horse with a future.
Track: Bangor – 3:55
Jockey: Theo Gillard
I’m mixing it between hurdles and fences with him and it doesn’t look the strongest of contests. Theo is great value for seven and we’ll drop him in and it’ll either work out or it won’t.

Track: Bangor – 4:30
Jockey: Brian Hughes
He’s been running solid races but the Newton Abbott race didn’t quite work out for him. The blinkers could make a big difference to him as he hasn’t worn them over hurdles before and he’s run well around Bangor before.
Track: Bangor – 5:00
Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh
It didn’t quite happen for him the last day at Sedgefield but this is the right grade of race and he’ll run well.
Track: Bangor – 5:00
Jockey: Brian Hughes
He travelled really well for two-thirds of the race on debut but looking back, I shouldn’t have taken him to Kelso that day, where he came home very sore. He’s a fine big racehorse that was bought at the same time as Navajo Pass and Goobinator and I’m expecting a much-improved performance.
