Mauro Icardi
Inter Milan have given new signing Romelu Lukaku the no. 9 shirt previously worn by Mauro Icardi, in a further indication that they do not consider the Argentinian striker to be part of their plans for the upcoming season. Yet, he is reluctant to leave on their terms and is adamant to make it as difficult as possible for the club to move him on. This week rumours of a potential move to AS Roma have emerged, with a possible cash plus player deal involving Emil Dzeko, another player strongly wanted by Antonio Conte. Juventus and Napoli meanwhile are keeping vigilant , whilst reports from France have named Monaco as a possible destination for the player with the club ready to offer him a better contract than all the interested Italian sides. The saga continues.
Paulo Dybala
Dybala did not feature at all in the opening league game despite being named on the bench, which further intensified the rumours of his imminent departure from Turin. Reports from Italy suggest that Juventus’ directors have travelled to Milan to discuss a potential swap deal with Icardi, as PSG cannot do any business before they resolve the Neymar transfer saga. Icardi is open to move to Juventus and thus once again the situation is in Dybala’s hands as he had previously refused to move to Tottenham earlier in the summer.
Paul Pogba
Real Madrid have reportedly made a £30 Million plus James Rodriguez offer for the Frenchman, which Man United have laughed off as they will not entertain any offers less than £150 Million. Zidane continues to insist on signing him, but after this summer’s outlay and with the likes of Bale and Rodriguez still on the payroll, Florentino Perez is finding it very difficult to come up with the funds needed to sign the Frenchman. Juventus, who have a much better relationship with Man United, are still keen on bringing Pogba back to Turin and are currently in talks with the Red Devils to see if a solution can be found, with the Bianconeri willing to offer Dybala, Mandzukic and Matuidi in return. Man United are adamant to keep Pogba at Old Trafford and the closer the transfer deadline approaches, the more likely it is looking that he will stay put. At least in this window.
Christian Eriksen
The Danish playmaker started on the bench on Sunday, as Spurs lost at home to Newcastle. His creativity was sorely missed, with fans and pundits alike questioning why he is not starting games given that he is still officially a Tottenham player. Reports have suggested that the player’s relationship with Daniel Levy has broken down due to his reluctance to sign a new contract, and that his substitute role is a direct consequence to this. Yet, none of the Madrid clubs have made an official approach for the Dane, which suggests that he will opt to leave on a free next summer and will be able to negotiate with anyone come January. This decision might push Levy to cut his losses and sell the player in the remaining few days of the transfer window.
Ziyech
After a sensational season with Ajax, with 21 goals scored and 24 assists made, it is normal that teams are circling around the 26 year old Moroccan international. Arsenal have made several enquiries but after signing Nicolas Pepe, it seems unlikely that they will have the funds to sign another offensive player, unless they sell first. This has opened the door for Bayern Munich to swoop in as they are still looking to replace Robben and Ribery who have departed this summer after a decade of dominating the Bundesliga. Ziyech can play in several forward positions, is very comfortable on the ball and would bring bags of creativity to Bavaria, with the additional bonus of having a fairly low release clause which would make his signing fee a bargain in today’s market.
James Rodriguez
Despite rumours circulating all summer of an imminent move away from the club, the Colombian playmaker has reported to training with Los Blancos on Monday after spending two years on loan with Bayern Munich. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has stated that the player’s future is in the hands of the club and that reporters should ask Real Madrid president Florentino Perez where the player will play next season. Bids for the player have been made, but Perez is adamant that he will not undersell any of his players and is holding firm on his asking price for James Rodriguez, which is yet to be reached by any of the clubs said to be interested. Napoli, who have been the most vocal about their interest in the Colombian, have declared publicly that the asking price for the player is too high and that a deal will not happen unless Real Madrid lower the pretences. These statements are looking more and more like a tactic from both sides to try and get the best out of a deal that will most likely happen, as Real Madrid cannot keep all the players they currently have in the squad after the expensive additions they made this summer, with Bale’s situation also yet to be resolved.
Neymar Jr
Barcelona directors, including Eric Abidal, have been seen in Paris this week in what is being reported as a last push from the Blaugrana to sign Neymar before the transfer window closes. It is being rumoured Barcelona have offered a fee of around €170 Million to be paid out over 3 years, with Neymar joining this season on loan to be in line with financial fair play regulations. A formula similar to the one that brought Mbappe to PSG from Monaco a couple of seasons ago. Yet, it is being claimed that PSG would rather have €100 Million upfornt plus Semedo and Dembele, as there is not much time left for them to recruit new players after the Neymar sale. This one will go down to the wire.
James Rodriguez
With Colombia’s surprise elimination from the Copa America at the hands of Chile, James Rodriguez is now free to take a decision on his future, with Napoli his desired destination. Yet, he is still contracted to Real Madrid and Florentino Perez will have the final say of where the Colombian playmaker will end up next season, with cross town rivals Atletico Madrid also making an enquiry. Los Blancos, as they showed in the case of Llorente, do not hesitate to sell players to their rivals if the price is right and with Griezmann expected to join Barcelona this week, Atletico will have money in the bank to make this transfer happen.
Mauro Icardi
The future of the Argentine forward is getting more complicated by the minute as the Nerazzurri have told him that he is not part of their plans going forward, yet he is reluctant to leave and would only be interested in a move to arch rivals Juventus. Conte does not want to sell him to their direct rivals and thus this is holding up Inter’s transfer plans as they need the fee from Icardi’s sale to fund a move for Lukaku. They have tried to insert him in a swap deal with the Belgian, but United are adamant that they only want a cash deal, which Inter can only get if they sell Icardi. A lifeline might be offered by Atletico Madrid who are looking for a replacement for the departing Griezmann, although they have made Joao Felix as their top priority.
Pogba
The rumours regarding the Frenchman will not stop as this transfer saga looks set to go on all summer. Pogba is set to report for pre-season with United on Monday with the club having made clear that they do not intend to sell him.
Thus if he wants to move he will have to make an official transfer request, something that could possibly happen once he talks with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in person.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Reports from Serbia have emerged that the midfielder is about to move to PSG for a fee of around €80 Million users, with terms already agreed both with Lazio and the player. Man United and Real Madrid are believed to have made enquiries about the situation but it is firmly believed that this will not hamper his move to Paris which should be announced soon.
